India: Top five most expensive brands in the world to buy
India has overtaken China to become the world’s most expensive major market, according to new research.
That ranking comes as India grapples with the global pandemic, which is killing millions of people around the world and leaving tens of millions without health care.
The report from IDC says that in 2016, India was the most expensive country in the globe to buy a $2,000 to $3,000 mobile phone.
China ranked No. 3 with an average price of $1,600, followed by the United States at No. 5 with an annual average of $2.6 million, according.
India, which has one of the world is top 10 smartphone manufacturers, also leads the world in consumer spending, according the report.
The country, which also has the second-highest number of mobile phone subscriptions among countries in the Asia-Pacific region, is also among the top five countries in terms of smartphone sales, the report says.
The study says India accounts for more than a quarter of the global smartphone market, accounting for 15.6 percent.
