Boy’s Life Online Picks ‘Pong’ for Best New Anime Series
NEW YORK — The boys’ life is coming to the online world with pingpongs and bingo, but the online sensation that made the series ”Ping Pong” is now coming back to TV.
An anime adaptation of the children’s show ”Pong” has been green-lit to air on CBS in 2018, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The show, about four boys playing on a pingpoon, will be a limited series with episodes about eight to 12 hours long, according to the producers.
The first season of ”Ping” premiered on Adult Swim in 2009, but it has since been picked up for a second season on the network.
It is a franchise that has made it to the small screen, with the most recent installment in ”Punktron 3000” airing on Adult Networks in 2011.
Pong has been a hit for Cartoon Network and Cartoon Network Europe, and is also being adapted into a film and a TV series.
Disney XD is also developing the series for a series for its young adult audience, but ”Ping,” which is set to debut in 2020, is a much different experience.
