How Pingpong is getting its international name back after a Chinese company bought it for a record price
Akira Lane Pingpongs global business is changing hands.
Its name has been given back to the company it was originally sold to.
The Malaysian-owned company bought the Pingpongo chain of pingpongs from a Chinese businessman, who then used the name for his own business, said its chairman, Akira K. Lane.
Pingpong Global Holdings has not disclosed the buyer, and it was not clear if the buyer is the same person who sold the pingpings to Lane.
It said it is not known how the new name will be used, nor how the PingPong Global brand will be marketed in the region.
Lane said he hopes to work with the local industry to promote the Pingopong brand in the Malaysian market.
